This world is full of darkness and all sorts of evil deeds. As all are found to have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. None finds themselves doing what is right on their own.
Jesus Christ then comes into this dark world and announces that He is the light of the world that He whoever follows Him shall not walk in darkness anymore but have the light of life.
But unfortunately men found themselves desiring to walking in darkness in fear that their evil deeds will be exposed. But however, the scripture says that and the light shone in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.>
Those now who believe in Jesus Christ and get born again, and they have been turned from darkness to light.( Acts 26:18)
Therefore as people of the light much is expected from them. They should make sure that they make an impact in this world by walking and shining the light of Jesus Christ.
Salvation is never a private issue, those already in the light are called upon to rise up and shine brightly to the world. No more hiding nor being ashamed of testifying about the light.
Jesus Christ compared born again believers to a city that is set on a hill which can never be hidden. And also believers are a lamp that instead of being put under a basket should be put on a lampstand that it should give light to all who are in the house.
Jesus told His disciples like this; Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.( Mathew 5:16). And that is exactly what is expected of all believers; shinning as lights in to the world.
The verb let as used in the above scripture shows that it is a deliberate action that one decides to do without being pushed.
One beauty about salvation is that God doesn’t expect you to produce your own light. What God needs is for any believer to arise and the light of the Lord will shine upon him.
This is because it is God is the source of everything we do and He is constantly working in us both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
God isn’t demanding a lot from us but only our availability as vessels that He will use for His own glory. God will always work with vessels which are available to be used to shine His light to the world.
This means that we have no choice to continue living in darkness nor live according to the patterns of this world but rather be transformed by the renewal of our minds that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
God is expecting each and every believer to arise and be an effective ambassador of Jesus Christ shinning light wherever we go. And making sure that we spread the gospel of Jesus Christ both by the word of God and the lifestyle we live and doing this all for the glory of God.
